Hi, my name is Tomer. I grew up in a small mountain village in the Galilee, North of Israel, overlooking the Sea of Galilee. I remember myself writing stories in my mind since early childhood. My father had made me a pair of wooden stilts which I learned to walk on, and I used to walk on them for hours on end, telling myself stories in foreign languages before I could even speak them... these were my favourite hours each day - walking to and fro on those wooden stilts and telling myself stories as if I was writing them.
I can walk on stilts to this day, over 40 years later... And the pond? well, when I lived in Switzerland and my eldest son was born, I used to love taking him to a pond where a little water turtle lived... we used to watch it and tell stories about it - which later turned into the book "The Water Turtle and the Tortoise".
When I am not writing or painting or editing my own books, I work in language editing and proof-reading children's magazines, books and academic articles in Hebrew and English, as well as review translations from German and English into Hebrew and improve them based on 40 years of translation experience. "A stunning choice where colors takes on a whole new meaning! This very unique story was so captivating as a tale of friendship through gnomes of different colors who lived in separate beautifully colored worlds. Only thing is they were isolated, until a brave gnome decided to do something about that. The theme was how one gnome who felt lonely on his island took matters into his own hands by finding other gnome friends, and a special friend from the moon. The journey by boat to magical colored worlds, to gather all the gnomes together, was beautifully painted and inspiring. It tells the tale of the importance of reaching out to others and trusting to develop deep friendships and love. The relatable gnomes are in their simplicity and vibrant colors, endearing. The illustrations were mesmerizing! Language carried the day as well with such phrases like: white sea of the moon. I loved this book and would highly recommend it!! 5 stars indeed!"
